Sweets for my Sweet

Happy Friday, it doesn't feel like Friday does it? Or maybe it's just me. I have been working on getting my eating back on track and noticed that my sweet tooth has been running rampant these last couple of weeks. So today in an effort to get that under control I am having an extra serving of fruit. If you are struggling with that getting in a bit more fruit should and can help. 

I used to be totally against the extra fruit because of the sugar content but that is literally what you (your body, cells and emotions) are craving (the sugar) so it's better to get it in an all natural healthy version then to scarf down two super sized rice krispie treats...YUPPPPP!!! this girl did that last night...oh the I hope that was helpful, have a splendid Friday

Holiday Shopping Survival Guide

 It's Satuuuuurrrrrdaaaaayyyyyyyyy!!!! 

 Dontcha just love Saturdays? So whatcha doin today? Are you still shopping? Are you preparing for family to come into town? Well if you are going out into the madness today, eat before you leave home so you don't give in to the devilish temptations out there. Have your water handy, and drink plenty of it before you leave, take a piece of fruit and some seeds or nuts with you and workout before you go. This will all put you in the mindset to stick to your goals. Don't let your shopping experience revolve around food. Enjoy the holiday season, the music, the atmosphere, the people, the shopping, family and friends. Get wrapped up in others and not food. Instead of buying that latte or that fast food whatever, go take a meal to a homeless person, or drop off some old coats that your family doesn't wear at a shelter, go buy a less fortunate kid a toy and spend time with the people you love. But first and foremost take care of the most important person in that equation...YOU. Have a Super Saturday <3

Weight loss tips

Good morning and Happy Thursday :) As I was preparing for one of my finals it brought to my attention some ways to improve metabolism for weight loss so I thought I would share it with you.

1). Do not restrict your calories, now this sounds counterproductive if your looking to lose weight right? But, it is in fact productive. Chances are if your like me you have been eating way more of everything than you are supposed to..which is why we ended up needing to lose weight in the first place. Instead, eat the right amount of food to sustain your energy for your right.

2). You need to know how many calories your body needs for your specific energy needs and get that in healthy clean foods. Chances are again, if your like me when you look at how many calories you usually eat compared to how much you should be eating, there will be a deficit.

3). And lastly, for God's sake.....lift weights. I am not sure why so many women are afraid of getting bulky....IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO BULK UP "LIKE A MAN" AS A WOMAN LIFTING WEIGHTS..... UNLESS YOU INJECT TESTOSTERONE OR STEROIDS INTO YOUR BODY. We just can't physiologically produce enough male hormones to do so. You have to intentionally get that way. Muscle increases your metabolism and burns more calories doing everyday activities including your other workouts. You should be weight training 3-4 days a week if weight loss is your goal. And as an add bonus...Did you know that lifting weights is the quickest way to reshape your body?....YUUUUUUPPPPPP!!!!!!

My love affair with running

I went for a run today in Papago Park. I wanted to go for a hike but I was told not to go alone. So as with all of my other runs this one started off slow and a little uncomfortable. Especially since I am not as conditioned as it is too cold for me to run back home. The first 3 miles are literally my warm It takes that long for my bones and joints to warm up and for my ankle to loosen up. The second three miles are where I get my stride, my breathing slows and I find my pace. The last three are heaven, I am warm and in the zone. I breathe with ease, my stride is longer and lighter, I feel no discomfort. I am in my thoughts and carried away by my music. I push myself to run faster, I push myself to run longer and my music fuels my inner passion to be better with every passing step. I am in love, I am at ease, I feel free and empowered.....I feel amazing and I feel no pain. In fact I feel better than ever, I feel stronger than ever, I feel young, athletic and like I can literally DO anything.
Oh and this scenery is just an added bonus, as I almost don't even engage in my surroundings. Running is the perfect sport for an insecure, narcissist... I am not competing with anyone other than myself and the sheer joy of what I am doing makes me feel unstoppable. At some points in my run I want to cry because this is the person I have always wanted to be. But because of years of abusing my body and taking it for granted the aftermath of this matter how great it is will leave me with hurting knees and a swollen ankle. Hindering me from doing it again for a few days...reminding me of the years I have lost. The years I could have been doing this, the years that I shaved off of my running life by breaking my ankle in a drunken stooper...the races I could have run, the distances I could have covered, the youth that I squandered...all a metaphor or symbolism if you will, of the things I could have done with my life.

 And then I think.....Oh well.....there's nothing I can do about the past. But I can run as hard and as fast as I can,  for as many years as my old knees and joints will allow. I can take that inner strength these runs bring up inside me to move my life and passions in a direction that will continue to change my life for the better. It only took me 41 years to fall in love with running, but that does not change how much I love it, it only dictates how often I get to do it. I apply that to other areas of my life, it doesn't matter how long it takes me to get there, what matters is I know that I still can....that is what my love affair with running has taught me. I can do anything because I am a fucking beast :)
